In this case, sound will probably work in other browsers like Chrome, but not in Safari. This problem is typically caused by a strange configuration change that MacOS applies to sound output if. Restart your MacBook Air/Pro. As we know, sometimes a simple restart can fix some minor glitches, including audio issue that Mac sound is not working. Solution 2: Volume Up MacBook. Make sure you've turned volume up, or you can press down the Volume Up button because when volume is set to minimum, you are unable to hear the sound.

MacBook Air :: Function Keys Not Working For Brightness Or Volume?
Mar 21, 2012I have a 2011 (?) macbook air and ever since my trip to the genius bar for a battery issue my function keys don't work after I wake it up (just opening screen). May also be related to last firmware update?
I have checked the function key mapping in settings and they are normal. The volume key launches Expose and the brightness keys (and others) don't do anything. A reboot helps but only untill the first time I put it to sleep (close/open lid).

MacBook Air :: 2011 - Brightness / Volume Keys Not Working
Aug 21, 2014Really stumped by this. Recently (I think it was after a MacOS update but I'm not sure) my brightness and volume keys stopped working on my 2011 13' MacBook Air running MacOS 10.9.4. The F keys still work i.e. if I press Fn-F10, I get the expected effect from pressing F10, but if I just press F10, volume remains unchanged (should get muted). Mission Control, Launchpad, and media keys (rewind, play/pause, ff) all work.
Using Karabiner, I checked to make sure the keys generate correct events. They do. Pressing the brightness keys generates 0x3 and 0x2. Pressing the volume keys generates 0x7, 0x1, and 0x0, which are the expected key codes defined in ev_keymap.h, the header file for HID. I can also adjust volume and brightness using the sliders in the appropriate section of 'System Preferences.'
So volume and brightness itself can be changed. They keyboard keys themselves work and produce correct keycodes. But whatever operating system feature (HID?) that is supposed to read the keyboard input and translate it into commands to the display and sound drivers doesn't work.
I've tried all the obvious stuff (restart, safe mode, toggle the Function key option in System Preferences->Keyboard). I've reset SMC and PRAM. Nothing has worked so far.
The only other thing I can think of is that a while back (before this problem started occuring) I got annoyed by the power button in the top-right corner of the keyboard, which I would occasionally hit accidentally. I searched for a way to disable it, and I think I found something -- now it only does something if it's held for 2 seconds. A quick up-down strike does not do anything. Perhaps in tweaking some setting to achieve this behavior (I don't remember what I did), I screwed up something with the brightness/volume keys, but this screw up only became evident later.

Intel Mac :: Volume Keys Not Working On Apple 10-key Keyboard?
Jun 1, 2012After the cat spilled a glass of water on my wireless keyboard I had to get a new one. I asked the folks at my local Apple store both over the phone and in person if the 10-key keyboard (non-wireless) they were going to sell me was compatible with Mac OS X version 10.5.8 (I think I'm Leopard) and they assured me it was. When I hit the volume keys, it initially used the assigned function of the F10, F11, and F12 keys (manipulated the windows and dashboard). I removed those key assignments through system preferences but now the volume keys do absolutely nothing. I tried looking for volume controls through the assignments but couldn't even find them to assign the F10, F11 and F12 keys to them.

MacBook Pro :: Why Aren't The Corners And Edges Of Track-pad Working
Apr 23, 2012I have a late 2011/early2012 MBP running OSX 10.7.3 (build 11D50d) and All of a sudden my trackpad is playing up. I can move the cursor from all places of the trackpad apart from the bottom corners - but I can only click in the center of the pad. However I can touch click in most places (apart from bottom corners). Does anybody know how to fix this?
I've only had my MacBook Pro for 4 weeks now, I've not dropped it, knocked it or spilt anything on it, so this is pretty disappointing to say the least. I've seen a bunch of videos on youtube where people are taking their MBP apart and tightening a screw to fix the problem. My warranty is still valid and I have AppleCare so I don't want to be voiding either of those by taking it a apart and messing about inside.

Safari :: Extensions Aren't Working In 5.1.7?
May 21, 2012Since I upgraded Lion to version 10.7.4 and Safari to 5.1.7 my safari extensions won't work. These aren't exotic extensions here, we're talking about 1Password and Evernote. When I launch Safari, I get a message saying that the extensions don't work with this version of the browser. I removed the extensions and tried to reinstall only to get a message saying that there was an error when trying to install (a truly usefull message, I might add).
Thinking that this might be an issue with a specific extension (1Password), I contacted the developer. Over the course of a week or ten days, we went through a series of steps to try to resolve the problem. None of these steps resolved the issue, then suddenly, for no obvious reason, the extensions started working UNTIL I have to restart my computer when it was physically relocated. Upon restarting and relaunching Safari, I got the same old message -- the extension won't work. When I tried to reinstall, the 'error when trying to install' message popped up.

Software :: Dock Not Magnifying And Rollovers Aren't Working?
Mar 26, 2009I have an extremely frustrating and sporadic problem. I have no idea what triggers it and I have no idea how to check.Right now, whenever I roll my mouse over anything that should have an 'action', it doesn't work. My dock doesn't magnify, menu rollovers on websites don't do anything, and my menu bar doesn't drop down or highlight when I roll my mouse over options. I have to hold my mouse button down, and then let it go when I want to click on something in my menu bar. I plugged in a different mouse, same problem. I restarted my machine, same problem. This has happened several time before and the funny thing is things all of a sudden return to normal.
OS X :: Mapping Other Keys To Volume
Mar 6, 2009I just got a non-Apple keyboard, the Unicomp 104, and I absolutely love this beast. They even printed me custom 'command' and 'option' keys when I asked them to. The only thing I miss is that there are no volume control keys. Now, I found this link with a little hack to make an Applescript to change the volume: mac-not-volume-keys-not-working-with-spotify.html
This is much better than nothing, however I wonder if anyone knows how to map the vol+, vol-, and mute keys to other keys on the keyboard. I'd rather have that, because that way gives me the white volume box, and has the popping sound to give me an idea of the volume level, and can be modified with option for more incremental control, etc.
OS X :: Using Top Keys For Volume Control
Jun 22, 2010I found a way to control the volume through the system preferences, but I tried to do this with the top keys that have the volume labels on them, but when I press one of them to lower or increase the volume, it either brings a widget up to the screen or moves the current windows off to the side, & does nothing to the volume.

I open the downloaded Spotify Android app and the first thing I see is an error message saying that the app has stopped working and it gives me two options, to report or close. I have reported it many times and nothing has happened!! I have also uninstalled the app many times and installed it back just to return to the same problem. This is getting extremely annoying because I cannot listen to music I'm paying for.
To get the broken Spotify Android app worked, you can follow the troubleshooting Spotify on your Android device.
1. Reboot your Android phone, be it Samsung or HTC and check if the Spotify still doesn't work or not. If so, log out of the Spotify Android app and relog into a fresh account.
2. Clean install and get the cache on SD card to solve the typical Spotify issues including black screen on startup, offline data not storing on SD card, random crashes, track degradation or skipping, playlists and tracks no longer available on Spotify. Please bear in mind that all preferences and offline playlists will be lost in doing this.
